Chapter 10: The Despair
The village of Riverwood, the small community of fishers and farmers was one of the most joyful places to live in O'Leus. Many people would come here to rest, a place to forget all of their troubles. It was isolated. No one around for miles. Today, there was something different in the air, the townsfolk were all outside.... listening. They all could here a faint cry, repeating itself over and over. The words they were hearing didn't make any sense to them. It was becoming louder and louder as the day passed on by. They had saw the source of the loud cries. The shadowy figure stood tall, even taller than some of the surrounding trees.
The large hulking figure had a very large pointed nose that extended out farther than some of the villagers hands. It had the color of very pale milk, it was wrapped in black cloths that covered up its entire body, except its face. You couldn't see any hands or feet, it just glided across the ground, not flying..... just gliding closer and closer to Riverwood. It was faintly shouting out haunting words. Anguish, Agony, Lost, Marlene, Desperation.... Need. It just repeated the same six words, over and over. The villagers understood what he was saying, some fell to their knees. While others put both hands to their faces, covering them with shame and pity. The tall figure was in the middle of the town now, standing tall above everyone. The people of Riverwood began extinction, people began strangling one another, then taking their own lives with knives and various farming tools. People were being hanged, beaten, wives killed, children drowned, husbands being impaled. The Despair was in the air, there was so much Despair surrounding the city, the people couldn't take it anymore. Moments after the mass murder had begun, The Despair continued to move on past Riverwood. Hanging lifeless bodies were behind the being, with pools of blood spattered across the ground. There was a kid, standing in between in his father and mother, their blood on his hands and feet. He was the last one left. The Despair looked back, his long pointy nose leading the way. The kid grabbed a nearby blade, raised his head, pressed the cold blade against his neck, then drove the blade deep through his bare neck, falling instantly in between his mother and father. The Despair turned back away, and just continued to glide away repeating those mysterious words over and over again. Anguish, Agony, Lost, Marlene, Desperation.... Need..... . Who's Marlene?
