DP Book 2: Chapter 3: The Wallowing Loner

    No comments :
Samwell had been walking for days, through the harsh suns and dark brisk moons, he had begun walking up a steep mountain ridge, until he noticed a sobbing man.  Although it was a crying man, it wasn't The Suffering, it was someone different.  Sam was going to walk right by the poor boy, but the never-ending blubbering caused him to go to the side of the boy.  He reluctantly asked, "Whats wrong with you?"  The boy took a moment to compose himself, wiped away his tears, and stood up.  "Oh nothing its just that I'm very hungry and I haven't eaten in days, I'm not a very good hunter."

"Your father should have taught you how to hunt, where is he?"  Sam asked.
"I'm afraid that would be impossible, my father is no longer here with me."

    "What happened to him."
"Well, its kind of a short story.  I was out swimming in the lake one day, and I thought it would be fun to scare my father, so I called him out to the nearby lake.  Since we lived out in the forest by ourselves, there was a lot of places where I could hide at.  Once my dad got near the lake, I yelled at him, and frightened him.  He was startled by my loud yelp, that he fell into the river.  At that moment I learned something new about my dad, he couldn't swim... He ended up drowning in a matter of moments, that was the last time I seen my father, well, his floating body.."

"Sorry to hear that kid?" Sam responded with a concerned look on his face.  " You must have a mom then?"

" No my mom was burned alive in a house fire I caused when I was smaller,  it was a tragic accident, I still have nightmares about that night..."

"It looks like you've had a bit of bad luck, to say the least..."
Sam had begun to continue walking, but stopped immediately by the shriek of the boy.  "Hey mister, can I come with you.  I don't have anything so I won't be a burden.  I just don't know where to go at all."

"I don't know kid, I have a lot of things to figure out, don't you have a friend you can live with?"

The boy responded, "What's a Friend?"

    "....."

Sam had a confused look on his face, but then turned to compassion.  "Fine you can come along , just don't get in my way.  What do they call you anyway kid, The Wallowing Loner?"

"Oh no, my name is Calebb, and you?"

    "Samwell...."

"Well nice to meet you Samwell, looks like I have a... a friend now...."
