DP Book 1: Chapter 8: The Love Story

    No comments :

After a few miles of walking, the red headed goddess and her trustee sidekick noticed a crying middle aged man sitting on a tree stump.  “Lets keep moving Sam, after the last holdup, we’ve gotten behind schedule.  I know you, and you’ll want to help this poor weakling out.”
“Of course I do, look at him.  He needs our help, so come on.  Maybe he can help with our journey to Greece.

She had noticed that Sam had taken interest in poor man, and let out a sigh of disgust and frustration.  Liliana had always been impatient, that was just her style.  “What ya crying about mister,” Sam asked casually?
“Oh, my one true love doesn’t want to get married.  I’ve proposed marriage to her almost three times already.  She just won’t say yes to me.”
“You poor fool, you don’t even know how to romance a girl,” Liliana said with a laugh.
“Do not mock what you don’t understand foolish girl.  Ariel is the only lover I’ve ever had and want.  She made me a man a  long time ago and I haven’t looked back.  I just need help trying to win her over!”

“We will help you mister, and don’t mind my partner here, she’s a little rude at times. My name is Samwell, just call me Sam though.”
“Thank you young sir, you won’t regret it.  Most people call me Peter the Hopeless Romantic, but just call me Pete for short.  Lets get back on the road, Woodland Village is just up the road here.”
The three of them walked the short distance just over the horizon to Woodland Village.  A small and cozy home, its great for raising a small family.  This is my perfect home for when I’m done with my current occupation.  The trio arrived at The Hopeless Romantic’s house.  It was a gorgeous home, filled with great art by Joc del Tio and Jean del Tio.
“Now I have an idea I haven’t tried yet, POETRY,” the man shouted with confidence.  “I am a great writer, my father wrote a poem to this girl he wanted to marry.  That woman became my beloved mother.  So when it comes to romance, I know a thing or too.”
“OH BROTHER,” Liliana added!  “If you were the master of romance, your soon to be bride would have accepted your proposal by now.”
“Oh little girl, its only a minor hiccup.  Well, enough banter, lets go find my beautiful bride-to-be.  She should be at the tavern.”  The Hopeless Romantic lead them through the town, the citizens of Woodland knew Pete because of his little intricacies when it comes to women.  As they walked they all heard people name calling Pete such things like “Wimp and Lady-worshiper,” and something I’d rather not repeat.  They arrived at the tavern named “The Dry Mermaid,” which makes no sense at all.  The woman was outside, she was drop dead gorgeous.  She had eyes that the Creator designed with great care, the angels would fall out of the sky just to see her.  She looked similar to the Great Helen, the most beautiful of them all, but I won’t go into that story.  With skin as creamy as fresh milk and hair golden like bee’s honey, I wonder how this pathetic fool could have courted her.

“Honey, how are you this fine afternoon? Have you pondered about my proposal any more.”
“Oh Peter, I still see you’re as naive as ever.  I thought that beating I gave you would have finally made you a man.  I see you’ve brought some friends along with you as well.  The young man is cute, but the redhead looks pretty dangerous.  I am Jade, from the Kingdom of Okyra.”
“Oh me too Jade, although I haven’t seen you around ever,” Sam said.
“Well, of course not.  I left home as a child, and came here to Woodland.  I consider this my home because I know everyone here.  Even this pathetic fool Peter here.”
Now the four of them began to exchange pleasantries and whanot, and went into the tavern.  After a few hours in there doing who knows, they came out together.  The couple had invited the two fighters to their home to stay the night.  Of course they accepted being how they had nowhere else to stay for the night.  Once they arrived at their home, the Hopeless Romantic pulled the two partners away for a second.
“Now listen guys you will be staying upstairs.  I need you guys to write me a poem to get her back.  I won’t have any time to write it down because I will be occupied.  Hopefully, Jade is in a good mood, I don’t want anymore beatings tonight.”
“Are you saying that she beats you mister? Why would she do that to you Pete,” Sam asked with genuine concern.
“Oh its nothing she just has these temper tantrums every now and then, and she takes it out on me.  So, if you hear any noises downstairs, just try to ignore it.”
The two youngsters went upstairs to there room.  There was only one bed in the room, but they managed.

“So which one of us gets the bed,” Liliana asked?
“Lets just both be in the same bed, there isn’t anything wrong with that is there?”
“Women aren’t supposed to be in the same bed with another man unless we’re married.  Especially Tzarian women. Just promise not to touch me, and no funny business either.”
“Funny business, what in the world are you talking about Lily.  I just want to help this guy and go to sleep, thats all.  I have an idea for a poem, so just leave this to me.”
The boy found a piece of parchment on the nearby table and with a quill lying there waiting for his expertise.  He began to write, taking many breaks with lots of pondering in between.
The two of them started to hear sounds of loud noises and bumping coming from downstairs.  After the racket, they heard shouting.
“You think we should go and check it out Sam?”
The boy remained silent, as he continued to write down his secreting thoughts, he was as focused as The Great Philosopher.
“Well, I guess you’re going to ignore me until you’re done writing your great romance poem.  When you’re done just let me know, I need a nap.  I don’t plan on staying here much longer, I hope you didn’t forget about the big picture.  We’re headed to Greece to get help.  The Hooded Man won’t stay quiet much longer.”
    Sam said nothing....
After a few hours, Sam finally broke out of his silence.
“Okay Lily, wake up. I think this will win the heart of Jade, we just have to give it to Pete.”
The two waited till morning to give Pete the poem that Sam wrote himself.  When he took the piece of parchment downstairs, Sam noticed that Jade had left.  She had stormed off in the middle of the night.
    “Where’s Jade Pete?”
“Oh, she stormed off last night.  After I proposed to her again, she called me a failure and left.  I’m sorry, I should sticked to the plan.”  The Hopeless Romantic began to sob uncontrollably, then began to whine.
“Please you guys you have to help me, I need her to live.  Without her, I am nothing on my own.  Please help me!”
“OK calm down Pete, will go and get her.  I have wrote a poem that I think will win her over.  We’ll be back.”
The two left the house to find Jade.  They asked around a few of the residents of the Village and they found out that she was at the tavern.  Once they got there, they instantly found her inside.  “Jade, Pete is looking for you.  He also wanted me to give you this....”
He handed her the piece of parchment with the Sam’s poem, it read..
“My love Jade, I wander about your beauty.  Me marrying you is my only duty.  In all the land you are the best, but getting you to marry me is my greatest test.  My love for you grows each and every day,  waiting for you to come home and lay.  You drive me crazy with all your enticing ways, for you I will do whatever it takes.”
Oh, how sweet!  I love him even more now.  I am going to go home and propose to him.  Thank you Sam for showing me this wonderful love poem.  I want you guys to come home and celebrate our marriage.”
The three of them strolled back to the house with a smile on each face except of Liliana’s of course.  They reached the house.  “Okay you guys wait outside, when I propose to Pete, you will come in and surprise him.  She walked into the house.... About 5 seconds later she let out a horrifying scream.  The two rushed in and saw the horrific sight.  The suspended corpse of Pete was dangling from the roof of the house.  The man had hung himself.  There was a note by the body, the boy picked it up and read it...
“My love Jade, I hate you for what you have done to me.  You turned me into a fool, now I am no more.  I gave you my heart, and you stomped it into the ground.  Now you will see what it is like to be truly alone.  If you’re reading this, it means you were late.  In essence you were always late, now It is time for meet Death.  I hope I won’t see you where I’m going.”
The girl was now in tears as the note was read aloud.  “NO PETER, WHY DID YOU DO THIS TOO ME.  I’M SORRY, I WAS A FOOL. I DON’T WANT TO LIVE WITHOUT YOU AND I WON’T!”

Jade made a lunge for the sword on Liliana’s back.  She pulled it off and thrusted the blade into her heart.  The girl and the Hopeless Romantic were now lying and hanging there, empty of love and life.  “Lets leave now Sam.  We’ve caused enough trouble here.”
The two left the death-filled home, and trudged away from the suicides.  I always hated “cleaning” up suicides, but I had to do it.  The two of them came away on their own terms, there was no fighting or no begging for second chances.  They wanted to see me, I guess there is a first time for everything.  Love is supposed to be this bringer of great happiness, people never realize how powerful it is until its too late.  I caught up with the two of them as they got back on the long journey to Greece, who else's lives will they ruin on the way...

DP Book 1 Chapter 7: "The Village of the Dead"

    No comments :

The two warriors had begun to the long and perilous journey to Greece.  The great land of Greece was north of Tzaria, so the had to travel through many villages.   While walking through a forest, they heard a young boy crying off in the distance.  “Help me, please anyone I need your help.”
The two decided to find the young lad and give him some assistance.  “Where are you,” Liliana asked?
    “Please HELP, HELP ME.”

The two sliced there way through many thick bushes and shrubs to reach a small village.  I knew this place, this is where I became what I am today.  This place is called The Village of The Dead.  I don’t believe they knew though, otherwise they would have started to run the other way.  Most people don’t leave here alive.  The damp and dank village was eerie.  There were strange sounds coming from every direction.  With strong gusts of bone-chilling winds whisking through sporadically.
“I don’t like it here Lily, this place doesn’t seem right.”
“Don’t be such a baby Sam, that yelling boy needs our help.  We need to find him quickly so we can help him.”  Both them started to look around for any type of life in this little dainty town.
“Hello, anybody here,” Sam asked.  “Come over here Liliana, it looks like a cabin with a fire.”
As they approached the cabin, a dark shadowy figure swiftly moved behind the window.  They had both noticed the shady figure, the girl had her two swords unsheathed and ready for an encounter.  The girl now approaching the door, she then grabs the door and opens it cautiously.  Her shaky hands start to knock the handle of the door.  The door was now opened, a the warm air from a brewing fire comforted her shivery face.
I stayed in the shadows and gazed in through the fogged window.  There was a man asleep, on a tattered bed.  His hands were across his chest, like he enjoyed being asleep.  I could tell he was in a deep sleep.  The dried up drool on the side of his mouth looked like it had been there for days.  I see a dark figure coming down the old creaky stairwell.
“Ah, I see you have noticed my friend, people call him The Dreaming, but I have learned to call him friend.
“Whats your name stranger, the girl asked tentatively.
“There is no reason for you to know my name my young friends, what are you doing here.  Let me guess, the little boy must’ve have brought you here with his loud shouting.  Oh he has brought me more vict-I mean more friends,” he says with a nefarious smile.
“Well, where is the boy?  I heard a lot of shouting and screaming this way.”
“Ah, the boy is around, no need to worry friends.”
“Why do you keep calling us your friends sir,” Sam asked?
“Well, if he’s safe then we’ll be on our way.  Lets go Sam!”
“Woah friends, not so fast.  The Dreaming is waiting for us.  He wants us to meet him at his house for dinner.”
“This guy is totally crazy Sam, lets get out of here now.  We don’t have time for this, Greece is waiting for us!”
“My friends don’t go please, we have dinner plans.”  The two began to leave the forbidden cabin until they heard the stranger mutter something, “I’m sorry, Abra-dazdle-Lahem!  A dark portal appeared out of nowhere.  He is waiting for you, the two of them were sucked into this vortex.  The strange man walked in after them while muttering, “This is for my family, this is for my family.”  Since I didn’t want to miss them I followed them in into it as well.  We were all in the same town, and in the same house.  This time the man wasn’t sleep.  He was waiting for them at the table.
“Ah, I see you’ve made it,” the man said.  “Welcome to my dreams, this is where I live.  This is my reality, ever since one night I don’t remember, I have always found my thoughts so relaxing.”
“I have done what you asked, can me and my family leave,” the stranger asked?
“I am a man of my word, take them and go.  Just walk out the back door, and you and your family will awake.”
“Wait, we aren’t staying here either Sam, lets get outta here as well!”
“Oh not so fast, he’s been my friend for over 50 years now, I need more friends.  Oh, when I first found the stranger, he was only a little boy with his brothers and sisters.  They were so adorable, I had to keep them around.  A man gets lonely in his dreams,” he spoke with a smile.
This guy was eerie, something wasn’t right about him.  He hasn’t stopped smiling since the two of them came to this imaginary world.  His eager demeanor implies that he thinks this place is real.

“Come eat guys, I have prepared a tasty meal for you two.  I bet you are starving.  “We aren’t eating with you, we have to get back to the real world.”
The boy just stood there in silence and shock, he had nothing to say to the delusional man.  I don’t blame him either, I wouldn’t talk if I were trapped as well.
“Let us go mister, or die,” Liliana threatened.  She unsheathed her swords, and pointed them at the Dreamer.  “You will let us go!”
“Oh foolish girl, how do you expect to kill me in my own world.  I can’t die while in my dream, and you can’t kill me.  Now sit down and enjoy your dinner, you guys are going to be here for quite some time.  Until I get tired of you, you will stay in this godforsaken village with me.”
“Liliana just sit and eat, we will find a way out of here later,” the boy whispered.  They sat down next to the Dreaming Man, and began to partake in the dinner.  “Now, thats more like it, you know the fish is fresh.  I just caught it this morning. You guys ought to come out and fish with me sometimes, since we’re going to be spending a lot more time together.  I also have some fresh wool for your beds upstairs.”
This guy was really starting to get under my skin, he was surprisingly delusional.  The two of them did nothing but follow the man’s strange requests.  After they finished their dinner, he made them gather around the fire and made them sing the Song of Angels.  That song was a very old and famous that was past down through many generations.  After a the long song was finished, it was time for bed.  “Okay guys, lets get up to bed.  We have a big day tomorrow.”  The man walked away to his private room.  The two warriors had to sleep upstairs in an old tattered room.  It looked like the room had to be over a 100 years old.
“Sam, we have to get out of here now.  There has to be a way out of this guys deranged head.”
“I know, I think we have to help him though.  He seemed a little disturbed and bothered by something.  I know it has to do something with that screaming boy.  He lead us here for a reason.”
He rose up from the wool covered bed spread, and started to pace back and forth with critical pondering.  Then he heard something outside a nearby open window, it was a boy.  He was running away from the house. Then Sam went to the stairwell, he saw the same boy falling down the stairs.
“What are you doing Sam, we need to find away out of here, we don’t need to take a tour of the cabin, she said angrily!
“Wait Lily, I think I know what happened to the boy.  I think he was killed.  It had to be the reason he lured us here.”

He walked down and heard echoes of more screaming coming from the Dreamers room.  It was the same kid, I heard it too now.  Sam unlocked the door with the tip of his sword.  He saw the strange man, sleeping.  It was odd, we were already in a dream, so how could be dreaming again?
The old man got up, eyes still closed, went to the kitchen, and started to make these violent gestures over and over again.  The boy knew how the kid had died.  Sam bolted upstairs and waited till morning with Liliana.  “I hope you got a plan Sam, cause I don’t want to stay here any longer.”
They had waited for morning for quite some time till they impatiently got up and looked for the strange man.  He wasn’t in his private area, and he wasn’t in the kitchen either.  They looked outside, the night sky was still out.  Then Sam saw that strange kid again, he was running.  “Come on Lily, I think he wants us to follow him.”  So they did, and after a few minutes of running, they saw the man at the nearby lake.  “I know who that boy was Mr.”  “He was your son and you killed him.”
“Those are LIES!  I did no such thing.  Why would I kill my own son,” the man pleaded with angst.
“You didn’t know you killed him because you were sleep, you are a sleepwalker.  You killed him while you were sleeping that one night you mentioned earlier.  You aren’t having a regular dream, this is a nightmare.  The only reason you haven’t gone completely insane is that you kept that man here for so long until you could lure others here to replace them.  Your son told me through silence, you pushed him down the stairs while assaulting him, then he escaped through an open window.  You followed him to this exact lake and pushed him in.  Unfortunately, he couldn’t swim and he drowned,” Sam said confidently.
“You’re right, I just didn’t want to admit it to myself.  I DIDN’T MEAN TOO!  This is why I stay in my dreams, I can’t face the real world now.”
The man sighed and realized that he couldn’t hold them any longer.  There was no reason to keep them in this non-reality.  “I guess you guys can leave now then.  Abra-dazdle-Lahem!  You are free to leave, just leave me here in my own thoughts.  I have no place in the real world.”

The same portal reappeared before them and they stepped through.  They awoke in the same cabin, they had fallen asleep near the Dreamer.  “Lets get out of here Sam.”
They had begun to leave the Village and came across the boy from the dream world.  “Did you find my Dad?”
“Yes, he stayed in his own world.  I did not want to leave that place.”
“Its okay, I’m just glad he forgave him self after all this time.  I can finally be at rest.  I couldn’t leave this place until he forgave himself.  Now I can leave just like you guys, I just won’t be going to the same place.  Well, I guess I’ll see you when you guys die, hope we’ll go to the same place. See you later.”
As the young boy got further away from them, he started to fade along with the brisk wind.  Until he was out of sight, they watched him.
“Lets go, I’m ready to leave this place.  There is no place for us here Sam.  Greece is waiting for us.”
As the two started off, I just had to say goodbye to my once living home.....

DP Book 1 Chapter 6: "We Meet Again"

    No comments :

“Are you ready Sam?  We have a long day ahead of us,” Liliana asked.  “Yea lemme just get ready.”  The boy went ahead and put on his red and black outfit.  With his dark red sheath strapped to his hip.  He was starting to look more like a Tzarian warrior.  “I have another gift for you.  Its from the Chief elder himself.”  She pulled out a dark round metal shield, it had some weird markings on it.  It might have been dragonian.
“Sam, I don’t know what these markings say, the Elder said you might be able to understand it.

“It says, to whoever can read this.  This is your shield.  The Dragon King.”
It must have been the King’s shield.  It had to be, I had never met the man himself, but this proves that he is real.  I always thought that he was just an old Okyrian legend.  The shield is priceless, it was made with the finest black diamonds.  It is impenetrable.
“Thanks, Liliana.  Lets get started with our training.”  The two walked outside the camp and headed towards the main grounds.  Suddenly they here screaming and panic.  The screams were coming from the market square.  They start to rush there, with people yelling at them to run the other way.  They spot The Hooded Man upon a nearby platform.  He had new friends with him this time around.  The Suffering was still with him, but the chained man was not to be seen.  A man with no arms stood beside Lazarius.  I had never seen this particular man before.  The Hooded Man began to speak to the Chief Elder, “So we meet again Chief.  Sorry, but I need more food and weapons.  I am building an army of men.  I want everything that you have now,” he demanded.
“I’m sorry, we have nothing to give.  You have only just left us, we haven’t had time to recover what we lost,” the Elder pleaded.
“Thats to bad, The Cannibal will feed on everyone here until I get what I came for.”  Now Sam was getting irritated and flustered, he ran towards the platform and jumped right next to The Hooded Man.  The two of them stared at each other for what seemed like forever.  “Ah, who do we have here.  A young boy looking to DIE.  Are you sure you want to meet Death so soon, you have a lot to live for,” he said while laughing.
“You killed my brother and took my home away from me,  want that back.”
“Oh look, we have a runaway Okyrian boy with us on this fine day.  You should have died for your land, I guess Tzaria will have to do.”
With the flick of his hand, he sent the boy flying back into the crowd with a wave of dark energy.
“Well, what will it be old man, give me what I asked for or pay direly.”  “We have nothing to give, just leave us be.”
“Sorry, thats not going to work.  Old friend will you do me the honors of killing this old fool.”

The creature replied with an evil, “With pleasure.”  He opened his mouth, the vile creature had teeth that resembled little swords.  With fresh blood stains covering most of them.  He grabbed the Elder, not strong enough to defend himself, he gave in.  After a brief collection of silence, you heard a loud crunch from crumbling bones.  The Cannibal had began to devour the old man from head to toe.  The pool of blood covered the creatures feet and soon began to spill over on the awed audience.  The girl was becoming hysterical, she went to find Sam and try to run away.  “AT LAST I FEED,” The monster yelled.  He hopped down of the platform and began to grab more victims.  The Hooded Man just stood there and laughed.  The crowd began to run for their lives.  With kids screaming and moms crying for mercy, it was a slaughter.  The monster now had his eyes on an unconscious Sam.  He was still knocked out from the dark energy that sent him flying.  Liliana noticed that he was targeting Sam, she bolted towards him.
“You are mine now boy, I bet you’re tasty.”
“Stay away from him, the girl unsheathed both swords and gave the creature a hard swipe.  “Ah, you little she-devil, you cut me.  I don’t like when people touch me, let alone cut me with a sword.”  She had begun to drag Sam away from the evil being, wanting to get away.

“Wake Up, Wake Up!” She yelled.
After a few seconds of screaming at the boy, he finally awoke amidst all the chaos.  Liliana had lost The Cannibal in the shuffle, with Sam being conscious, they had began to run.  They didn’t know where they were going, as long as they were alone.  As they were running away they heard, “I’ll Find You Boy!”  They had lost the pursuers and minions of The Hooded Man, they stopped and made camp.
“So what are we going to do Liliana?”
“I don’t know, all I know is that we are going get revenge for The Chief Elder.  Lazarius has now destroyed my home, that doesn’t stand in Tzaria.  The Man said he was building an army, we need to find help.  Lucky for us, I know where to go to find exactly what we need.”
“So, whats the plan,” he asked with a intrigue.
“We must go to Greece, its really far away, but thats the only way we can raise an army.  I hope you are ready Sam, because there is no looking back.  I guess now we are partners.  We will leave tomorrow at dawn.”
“I want to thank you Liliana, you saved my life back there.  I hope I can return the favor someday.”
“Yea, lets hope we won’t ever see that day....”

DP Book 1 Chapter 5: “Who Is this Outsider?"

    No comments :

“You must be out of your mind Liliana, bringing this boy here.  Who is this Outsider anyway?  Why did you bring him here?”
“I’m sorry Father he asked for my help and I want to give I always keep my word,” She said.  People started to gather around her home camp.  They were in awe to see an Outsider in their home.  “I want to confront The Hooded Man, he killed my family and took our land.  Okyra is now under his control and I want it back.  The curious crowd collectively gave a loud gasping noise.

“Oh you poor fool, The Hooded Man cannot be stopped.  He’s one of the only sorcerers left in the world.  Didn’t my daughter tell you that he just left Tzaria after bleeding us dry.  We don’t want him coming back again, our supplies are just now getting back up to standards,” the old man pleaded.

“Please Sir, I just need to learn to be a warrior like you and Liliana.  I need a weapon as well.  I will get Okyra back from The Sorcerer.  I need to find Kowo Kawa.”
Once again the audience gave another gasp of awe, “Who told you about Kowo, He is our Chief Elder.”
“ A dying dragon told me,” Sam said.  This time the crowd erupted with snarky laughter and snide comments.  “You must be a fool Outsider.  Nobody can speak to dragons, you must think all Tzarians are fools.  Only the sons of Dragon Kings can speak to them.”
“What about King Charles, he has to be a Dragon King, like you said.”
The Old Man gave a loud “HA”! “That fool is no Dragon King, he’s just a big flubbagaster.  He is nowhere close to being that high up in royalty.”  “Get this man out of here now, he doesn’t belong here.”  A group of muscular and tall guards came to escort the boy out.  As soon as they grabbed him, an elder came out from a hill on high.  He shouted “LET THE BOY GO.” “Chief Elder, he is an outsider, he does not belong here.” The Old Man pleaded.
“I wish to speak with him, send him up to me.  I have questions I want to ask him.  I also have answers for him.” The boy was escorted to the Elder Chief.  “Welcome to Tzaria son, I am Kowo Kawa.  Now, you said you spoke to a dying dragon.  What did he say to you?”
“Well, he was speaking in some weird language, but somehow, I could understand him.  He told me to find Kowo Kawa.  I didn’t know that was you sir.” Samwell spoke.
“Oh you are special my boy, you are the Prince of Dragons.  Your Father was a Dragon King.  Only The Descendants can speak to dragons.  Its a gift only true Descendants have. That fool King Charles is not your father.  I also heard about your brothers, I’m sorry to hear about that.
“I need to become a warrior like you and your people, I must go back and take my home back.  The Hooded Man has already killed many of my people, and it has to end.”
The Chief Elder looked in shock, having to just get rid of The Hooded Man.  The Man had just left Tzaria after ransacking all of their supplies.
“You will need help with this Herculean task, The Sorcerer is a very powerful man.  You won’t be able to defeat him on your own.  I will allow a fellow Tzarian to train you.  You will start tomorrow at dusk.  So go find Liliana, and rest tonight.
After a long day, Sam found the girl and went straight to sleep.  I guess it was all the long travel that tired him out.  The next day the girl stood over Sam while still sleeping and all of a sudden shouted at him to wake up “GET UP.”  He jumped up and hit his head on a nearby table, “OW,” He shouted.  The Chief Elder had assigned the girl to help with the boys training.   “I guess with all your whining, you finally got what you want.  We will start with weapon training first then get into defense.  Here you go.”
Liliana pulled out a dark red sheath, “This is your new sword.”
“Wow, thanks.  I will use it with honor,” He said happily and with bliss.  The two set off to the training grounds of her village.  The grounds were cluttered with the best warriors of Tzaria, all of them sparring or battling their hearts out.  I could tell the boy was starting to become intimidated, the sweat on his hands were causing the blade to keep slipping out of his hands.

“Have you ever held a weapon before Sam,” she asked.  “Only wooden swords.  I have never hurt anyone.”
“Oh boy, we have a lot to work to do.”  The Tzarian Initiation requires that you kill something.  I had to slay a newborn dragon.”
“Really, thats kind of cruel isn’t it,” Sam asked with concern.  “Its a tradition all Tzarians must complete, it molds you into a fierce warrior. Since you’re a simple Okyrian, you don’t have to go through the treacherous rituals.”
Throughout the week Liliana was on Samwell day in and day out.  From early in the morning to late at night when the moon was brightest, they worked together to teach the Dragon Prince how to fight like a true warrior.   During the last day of the week, or Solis, the Tzarians gathered around to pray to the Faith Giver.    It was a sight to behold, they have never seen this deity in person, but their faith kept them singing in harmonized synchronicity.  Liliana had dragged Sam to the Hall of Worship, to sing to The Conductor.  It was said that he used the sound of music to determine someones fate.  After a long day of praising, the two finally wen back to Liliana’s camp and got ready for another week of hard work.  They were ready for another simple day, but will soon find that tomorrow won’t go as planned...

DP Book 1: Chapter 4: "My Name is Liliana"

    No comments :

After sleeping for a few more hours he woke up from his deep sleep, with a wet face.  He was being licked by a huge creature.  “Whooah,” Samwell yelped. The huge Dragon was startled and started to spew fire everywhere.  The huge lizard might have smelled the freshly cooked venison that samwell ate.  The beast was now starting to charge Sam and was going to kill the boy.  Flying at full speed up, then spiraling down towards the boy, Sam was in trouble.  At the last minute, he saw a flaming arrow go through the heart of the dragon.  As the dying corpse fell from the sky, it landed right next to Sam.

It began to speak in some weird language... “Ha-Sha-Nea-lyna, Ezz-soa-belin.”  A figure approached from above in the trees, then it jumped down.  “Did you just speak to that Dragon,” a young girl asked.  Sam said nothing, he sat there in shock.  “Hey you, whats your problem.  Who are you”?

“My name is Samwell, of Okyra,” he said.  “Thanks for saving me... uhhh, sorry I don't know your name,” he said curiously.  “My name is Liliana, of Tzaria.”  This young maiden was quite the looker, I might add.  She was slightly taller than Sam.  Tzarians were known for their fiery red hair, and their natural warrior skills.  She the ideal Tzarian, her long bright red hair caught Samwell’s eye.  Sam never saw this kind of color in a persons’ hair before, Okyra doesn’t have nearly any red heads.  Liliana’s sculpted body strongly suggests that she was a fierce warrior.  Two golden swords strapped to her back made for some intense intimidation.
“Well, now that you have ruined my camp and eaten my kill, I’m moving on.   Very good to meet you Samwell.”  “Wait, can I come with you Lily?”
“Hey my name is Liliana, not Lily idiot,” she said angrily.   “Where do you think I’m going, I’m not an Okyrian like yourself.  We Tzarians have to stick together.”
“So where are your fellow friends then,” Samwell asked with a smile.  “Shut up fool, I’m just doing a little hunting, thats all.”  “Well, I need your help, I’m trying to find The Hooded Man, Lazarius.”    “You fool, you don’t want to mess with that Sorcerer.  He just left Tzaria after sucking us dry.  That’s why I’m hunting, our people need food and supplies,” Liliana stated.
The two youngsters continued to mingle with one another, the boy wouldn’t stop persisting to accompany the young mistress, She finally gave in on one condition, “You will not SAY A WORD.”
The two of them set off back to Liliana’s home land, it was a long journey across the Great Valley.  I had to stay back, so they wouldn’t spot me again.  I could still hear the constant bickering between the two of them.  Apparently Samwell, didn’t like the agreement she had wanted. “When we get back to my home village, you will not say a word.  I mean it this time Sam, you speak without being spoken too and you’ll be ironed.”  “I understand,” Sam said nodding.  The two really didn’t get along very well.  I completely understand too, that Tzarian really got under my bones as well.
I really had to stay back from the pair, if she finds out that I’m tailing them, she might attack me.  I have been to her land before, there is much work in Tzaria.  Those people are warriors, warriors die, then I have to clean it all up.  The Great Incident 1100 had sparked a rivalry between Okyra and Tzaria.  They were allies to each other in The Great War, but after a poor Tzarian man was found sleeping with the Okyrian Princess.  The King had declared war against the Tzarians, but they never went into battle.  The whole incident was just a lot of bickering and bluffing.  The two Kings settled with a sit down.  Ever since that little bluff war, the two never spoke or traded with each other.
“How much longer do we have to walk to your village Lily,” Sam asked?  “Just be quiet, we’ll be there in a minute.  Geez, you’ve been talking for the past few hours.”
“When we get there, can you train me?  I want to learn to fight like a true warrior.  I wanna be able to slay a dragon like  you did back at your camp,” Samwell stated.  “That wasn’t even a full grown dragon, wait till you see a grand or elder dragon.  Why do you want to learn how to fight anyway.”
“I need to be ready to confront The Hooded Man, he killed most of my family, and is controlling my home land.  I must go home and take back my home from Lazarius.”  “I will do what I can, its really not up to me.  If the Chief Elder will allow it then, maybe.” She said.

“Was the King really your father, Sam?”  “Actually I’m not sure, my mom was never sure who my real father.  She told me the King was.  I think she said accused him so I could have a place to stay and food when I got hungry.  We were still a poor family but we never starved.”
“I guess I can help you become a fighter like myself, if you want revenge for your family.”  “I don’t think its revenge in my heart Liliana, I just want answers.  Who am I really, am I really from Okyra.”
I’ve always wanted to know more about the kid, he has always been a mystery to me.  If I was that guy I would go after The Hooded Man just as he would.  The two of them continued on their laborious hike through the Great Plain.  Dusk was coming upon them and they had to hurry to get to a safe place before the scavengers come out to hunt. A few hours had passed and the two finally reached the girls home village.  Luckily for me, the indigenous know me very well.  They always hate when they see me, but they never freak out.  I remember taking their previous Chief Elder about 80 years ago, those people really hated me.  I don’t think they realize that this is my job, and I have to do it.  When Liliana introduced Sam to the townsfolk, he wasn’t so received so well....

DP Book 1 Chapter 3 : "So What Now"

    1 comment :

The three brothers decided to stick together in order to stay alive.  Since I had to clean up after the massacre, I had to rush back to find the boys.  In fact while trying to catch up, I fell and they noticed me in the shadows.
“So what now,” Samwell asked?  “We don’t know idiot,” they both replied.  “What the Hell is that,” Peter said while pointing at me.
Well I had to come out now and explain myself.  People really don’t notice me because they don’t want too.  I’m not a bad guy, its just that when people finally see me, they know that there time has come.  Oh I wish you guys could have seen the last guy that I took.  I had to drag him out of his house, he did not want to leave his wife and three kids.  Well, I guess I’ll continue with the tale...

“Don’t be alarmed boys, Its not your time,” I said.  “What the heck are you,” Peter stated again.  “You’re asking the wrong question my  friend, I’m not a he or she. People usually hate to see me because I take them away from their loved ones.  Just like your big brother James.  Oh, I wish you could have seen him.  Its funny, he acted so brave, but when he finally saw me, he started to weep like a little girl.  Isn’t that funny you guys,” I said.
“No thats not amusing, what are you sick or something,” Arthur said.  “I think he’s Death you guys,” Sam said.  “Thats stupid, what A ridiculous thing to say,” Peter said.
“Actually Peter, he’s right.  I am Death. “ The boys looked at me in shock, except for Samwell.  He looked at me like I was a normal human, but I wasn’t.  “Why are you following us,”” Sam spoke with intrigue.  “i’m just out here strolling thats all,” I said.  I didn’t want to tell them the truth, that they were most likely my next “assignments.”
“I don’t believe you, Arthur lets go,” Peter said frantically.  The two boys ran without bringing Samwell along.  It was now just Samwell.  This was fine for me, he was always the most intriguing son.

“Well, I guess, I’ll be on my way.  I don’t know where I am going but I need to find the Hooded Man.  Well, I guess I’ll see you around then Death,” Sam spoke.  Then the boy was on his merry way, I don’t believe he knew where he was going.  For days he wondered around looking for a place to stay.  He knew he couldn’t go back to his home, where The Hooded Man was now stationed.  Okyra is  gigantic in size so he could go far without leaving the Okyrian territory.
For a while now he walked, I can tell he was tired and hungry.  He wandered off the road to find food and a place to sleep.  After a few hours of wandering he stumbled upon a camp site.  He instantly noticed the smell.  It was a wonderful smell, and lured Sam toward the smoked venison dwindling on a stick.  He started to devour it, this boy loved to eat.  After gorging himself, he found a quiet spot near the an open fire.  He was now sleeping peacefully, but not for long....

DP Book 1 Chapter 2: "Sorry to Crash the Party"

    2 comments :

The next day was a special event, the King’s only offspring without a “talliwacker” was getting married to a local blacksmith.  He was handpicked by the King himself, while visiting different villages throughout Okyra.  The festival had started around noon with the whole capital of Okyra attending.  When I say the whole town, I mean the rich and the prosperous.  I never liked the King, I believe he is going to be my most favorite “employee.”  “Where’s the youngest boy,” Arthur spoke.

It was an Okyrian tradition that the youngest son had to serve the festival for the entirety of the event.  Of course Samwell never complained about the ridiculous tradition, but I could always tell that it bothered him.  Since I wasn’t invited, I had to watch from the hillside and boy did I get a show.  The French horns had began to sound and the King was ready to give his speech:
“Gather around townsfolk, its time to celebrate my daughters’ wedding to this although plain but talented young man.  William the blacksmith is a great and humble man I welcome him to my royal family.  Anyone who objects to this matrimony will be hung and beheaded in public.  This is my land and you will obey the rules of the royal family.  Since this supposed to be a joyous occasion, Everybody continue to drink your mead and your wine and I have a merry time.”
As the shindig began to come to a close it was time for the newly weds to go away for their honeymoon.  There was an isolated area of land in Okyra that was among the most beautiful of the land.  It was surrounded by a huge waterfall, with the cleanest lakes encompassing the plain.  When the new couple started their journey to this pure land for further celebration, a sea of dark clouds shaded the entire castle and the courtyard.  A dark hooded man stood there at the King’s throne, that outlooks the courtyard, and just stood there idle and silently.
“Who in the hell are you stranger,” the King yelped.  “You are not welcomed here, you will leave immediately or perish.”  Then the hooded man spoke with a scratchy dark voice....   “One moment you dunderhead, my friends are right behind me.  After a moment, three figures suddenly appeared.  There was “The Cannibal,” who is half man half monster.  Then there was a particular man who wore a dark jacket and was constantly sobbing, they called him “The Suffering.“  The last man was in chains, he was a prisoner of the hooded man.  I didn’t know who he was till the mysterious man spoke again...
“People of Okyra, I am Lazarius.  I am one of the last sorcerers to live and I’ve come this land.   Those who oppose me will be burned alive or worse.  Leave or die is what I’m trying to say to you ingrates, ha-ha-aha.  This is my land now and your precious King can’t do a thing to stop me.”  The King gave a rebuttal, “OVER MY DEAD BODY YOU MAGIC FREAK, YOU ARE BENEATH ME AND YOU WILL DIE.”
“That can be arranged my King,” Lazarius said with a deadly smile.  “Make him SUFFER,” he added.  The man in the dark leather jacket, took out a spiked mace from under his jacket.  Tears falling out of his eyes he screamed, “FEEL MY PAIN, FEEL MY PAIN.”  He began to beat the surprised King with his blood dripping mace.  Over and over the sobbing man wailed the same phrase while pounding on the King.  The sound of bones cracking and flesh being ripped apart violently filled the courtyard.  Everyone in awe, The Hooded man spoke again..
In the land of hypocrites and sinners, you are mine now.  Your precious King was slaughtered in front of you.  Any opposers of me will be hung in public, the rest of you are my slaves.  My new Kingdom needs rebuilding and my land needs workers.  You had this coming, you filthy animals.  All of you turn your head when a small time homeless man gets killed, but when A little King gets bludgeoned alive, you wanna get religious.  Well you can send your prayers to The Conductor himself if you want to, but don’t waste your time.  I already have his brother, The Creator, in chains.  Now, I realize that the deceased royalty has left behind some offspring.  I can’t kill their father and let them live now can I?  Sons of the King, approach the throne and meet your fate”!
Now the boys obviously didn’t want to make themselves, so as soon as Lazarius said that, the boys decided to sneak away.  James, being the oldest and bravest decided to step up.  He approached the new throne with trepidation.  “I am the only son of my Father, King Charles.  You don’t scare me sorcerer.”
“Ahh, so young and so weak,” the sorcerer said.  “I guess he wants to die for his land, haha,” he added while chuckling.  “Make him SUFFER.”  The sobbing man lifted his blood soaked mace while crying out “ WHY NOT ME, YOU MUST SUFFER LIKE ME”!  He then began to pulverize the body till the blood of the son had completely covered his disturbed face.  “Well, thank you old friend.   I guess its time for things to change......”

DP Book 1: Chapter 1 "Samwell At Your Service"

    No comments :
The Dragon prince and the Hooded Man
In the time of the dragons, the great land of Okyra suffered its greatest times.  With evil spreading across the land at great speeds, it was only a matter of time that it reached our hero.  Samwell, one of the King’s many sons, was definitely not the most talented, but had to be my favorite of the eclectic bunch.  I can remember the first time I saw the young boy.  “Where is our youngest brother,” the eldest brother James spoke.  You see King Charles loved to gather all of his sons for sparring in the courtyard of his illustrious castle.  There was James, of course, also there were Peter, and Arthur.  The second and third oldest respectively.  “Find HIM NOW!, James Yelled again.  Then I saw him, for the first time running up the giant hill that leads to the castle.
“Samwell at your service”, Sam said breathing heavily.  “You’re late Bastard” the eldest spoke with a grin on his face.  James never liked Sam because of his mother.  She was a member of the “oldest Profession”.   The banter between the diverse brothers was very amusing and sometimes cruel.  James always had it in for Samwell, Peter and Arthur just added on to try and get on the good side of James.  After the many knee-slappers, the King finally emerged from his personal quarters.
“Boys its time to start your training and Sparring,” he shouted from above.  Now the King was a seasoned War Hero, who helped liberate all of North Okyra from “The Barbarian” and his army of bloodthirsty degenerates.  The natives referred to this as the Great War of 1050.  That war kept me busy.  King James wasn’t only known for his Talents with sword, he was the most hansom in the land.  With a wink of his eye, he could have any lady in his quarters.  The few women who would refuse his lust, would suspiciously end up missing and later found beaten and battered washed up in the Red River, appropriately named.
Now Sam never liked to duel with his brothers , so when they were forced to spar with one another, he would always choose to fight Arthur.  Arthur didn’t like to fight either, he was an aspiring carpenter.  “Come on Sam, Lets get this over with,” Arthur said.  They each picked up their wooden swords and began to swing at each other.  I always hated watching them fight,  so repulsive. I liked blood myself, but thats just me.  Don’t think I’m weird or anything, its just in my job description.  As the day grew old and dark, the boys went back to there homes and cottages.  Sam had gone back to his Grandpa’s hut, while the other boys were asked by the King himself to stay in the cozy and lavish castle.  Samwell never complained about this, in fact he enjoyed staying with his aging Grandfather.  I would watch them play Ubi Ubi, an idiotic but popular card game.  Anyway, the next day was a little more eventful.....
