Chapter 7: The Drunken Uncle
The air was cooler than before, delving deep beneath the skin of any person walking amongst its mist. The bright sun had been masked by the white and grey, further cooling the air.
"Now I'm really beginning to believe you don't know where you're taking us Sam, can't we just go back to Okyra? They have food and shelter there."
"No! And thats the last time I'm going to repeat myself. For the past few days you've done nothing but complain, now if you want to turn back you can, but I'm going forward!" Sam shouted.
Calebb quickly silenced and continued his journey trailing Sam... wherever he was going.
They had been walking all night, when dawn came around, they had noticed a stumbling man in the road. His reddish garments appeared to be falling off of him, as he swayed east to west, then back again. He was wearing, made of dark fur. It barely covered his long golden hair that came down near his waist. He was carrying a nearly empty bottle of wine, that had clearly been sipped upon a few times. The man had made his way up to Sam, with Calebb trailing right behind him. They both stopped and stared at one another, the man was much taller than Sam. He took the last sip left of his mead, and tossed the bottle across the road into a nearby bush of lilies. "We finally meet. I've heard great things about you boy." The drunken man put his hand on Sam's worn down shoulders, noticing all the bruises, old and new. "Seems like you've been through a lot... You don't know who I am do you...?"
Sam removed the man's hand from his shoulder, "No I don't, and if you would please remove yourself from our path, we'll be on our way without any trouble."
"You've been through a lot kid, so I know you don't remember me.? The drunken man said with an enthusiastic smile.
"Who are you old man?" Sam asked.
"I'm your last Uncle , and you are my last nephew." The man said with an eager smile. "I'm glad you decided to come back to your first, real home. "
"What do you mean, Sam's home was back the other way." Calebb blurted out from behind Sam.
"Oh no. Okyra wasn't his first home. The Dragon King's castle is where you were born, and you've actually traveling the right way. At the summit of this very mountain you'll find what you're looking for.... Well, whats left of it anyways."
"You will show me!" Sam said eagerly.
"Oh but of course... Right this way... I know you too must be hungry, I have a little leftover venison for the three of us." The Uncle said.
"That sounds divine," Calebb said, while now tailing the Uncle instead of Sam. Sam just trailed them both, not knowing if this man was telling the truth at all, or was just living a lie.
The man noticed Sam behind him, watching his every move closely. "If you're wondering , you call me Uncle Lannis....."
