DP Book 1: Chapter 10: The Moon in the Night"

As the days went by, the two of them were becoming exhausted.  They hadn’t rested since The Assassin tried to kill Sam, he hasn’t been the same boy.  I could see in his eyes that he wanted to know more about who he is and where is his real family.  They had arrived in Praya, a large city blooming with life.  People were smiling and greeting the two strangers as they opened up the mysteriously large silver gates.  I wonder what can go wrong in here....

The two of them walked around the bustling city, looking for an inn and a place to eat.  They found an inn called The Night Walker, another intriguingly named place.  They arrived inside the humble establishment and approached the shady innkeeper.
“Excuse me sir, we need a room,” Liliana stated.
“Ah, a Tzarian.  You must be lost little girl, I haven’t seen a red head around here lately.  What do I owe this honor.”
“Like I just said, we need a room.  We’ve been traveling for days now, and need to get some rest.”
The shady character reached under the bar and handed the girl a set of rusty keys.  “Your room is upstairs, let me show you.”
The freaky innkeeper showed the two upstairs to their old abandoned rooms.  The vile smell in the room was the first thing they noticed as they entered the dank room.  “I’ll leave you two alone then, enjoy your stay,” the man said while smiling.
“Well, let me settled and then we can go look for food.”
After a few hours, the two went back down stairs to the mead hall.  It was an intimidating place to eat, but Liliana didn’t back down.  The mead hall was filled with Praya’s toughest knights and swordsmen.  Sam sat down while Liliana went to look for food.  A brawny swordsmen approached him and sat down next to him.  “Who might you be lad,” he asked?
“My name is Samwell, of Okyra.”
“Oh really, I haven’t seen any of you Okyrian weaklings around here in quite some time now. I heard about your King being slaughtered along with his son, how tragic.  Maybe if he had some of Praya’s finest protecting him, he wouldn’t be in the ground right now.  Oh, you Okyrians make me sick.  So what brings you hear to Praya.”
“Oh, my friend and I are just passing through Praya, we’re headed to Greece.  We need help with something.”
“Greece ehh, why are you headed up there for.  Theres nothing in Greece but religious freaks who pray to some guy named Zeus.  I mean how weird is that.  Oh, the nerve of some people these days.”

Liliana came back to the table with some freshly cooked venison, and started to gorge herself with the tender meat.  Suddenly the towns messenger appeared from the dark night.
“Guards, the beast is loose!  We must defend the town from the WOLFMAN!”
The mead hall’s calmness instantly converted to panic.  The towns’ swordsmen sprung into action, they unsheathed their silver swords and ran out of the hall.
“Come on Sam, they might need our help.”  The two also ran out with the guards.  They followed them across the huge town, hearing faint echoes of men and women screaming in the wind.  They arrived at the market square, with a shocking scene.  There were three bodies lying there, blood still pouring out under the lifeless corpses.
The Guard Captain rallied the guards in line.  “Men split up, and find the beast.  We will not rest until the wolfman is DEAD!”
The guards all split up, and went to search for the being who killed these people.  Liliana and Sam decided to to help out and look for whoever did this.  Together, they started their own patrol.  “Hurry Liliana, we have to find this creature.”
“Why are we always trying to help people.  I just wanted to make a quick stop here in Praya, not get involved with their dilemmas.”
“Just come on, I see a trail.”
The two started to follow a trail of dark blood, the more they walked, the thicker the trail became.  All of a sudden, the trail stopped.  There were in a dark alley, a shadowy figure came from the dark.  He approached them both...
“Hello, how are ya strangers?  What brings you two to Praya?”
“Don’t play around mister, where is the WOLFMAN!  Liliana shouted.
“What are you talking about young woman, there is no such being in Praya.”
“There is a trail that leads right too you.  Now explain yourself.”
“Oh that was my dinner.”  The middle-aged man picked up a dead carcass from off the ground.
“I love goat, its my favorite food.  Now if you guys want too bother me some more, come join me at my house for dinner.”
“That sounds fine, but I do have more questions for you,” Liliana stated with a concerned look.
The three of them walked around the corner to a small house.  The man opened the door and invited them both in.

“Oh honey, you’re home.  Thank the Conductor!  I thought that beast had gotten to you.  Its kinda funny too, you are always outside when the guards are alerted of an attack.  I’m just glad you’re home, and I’ve seen you’ve brought friends.”
“Guys this is my wife Kama.  Kama, this is Sam and Liliana.  They will be joining us for dinner.”
The four of them sat down to eat, and started to converse.
“Have you noticed yet Sam, myself and Gaius are having a baby girl.”
The woman stood up and showed them her ample belly, the size of the sun.
“I guess you wouldn’t mind if we slept here tonight would it,” Liliana asked?
“Of course not, Gaius loves the company.”
They all sat around an open blazing fire just enjoying each others company.
“Looks like there is a full moon out tonight Gaius, its just lovely,”  Kama said.
The man stood up, the charcoal colored hairs on his back stood up almost spontaneously.  He started to pace back and forth frantically.
“Why do you always have to mention the moon Kama, DARN IT!”
“I’m sorry honey, please just come and sit back down with our company.”
“BE QUIET WOMAN!  I’ll be back, don’t leave the house.  For any reason!”
The dark haired man stormed out of the house, and slammed the wooden door so hard the house shook violently.
“Oh I’m sorry you guys, he always gets like this some times.  Especially when the moon is out like it is tonight.  Just go up to bed, you let me worry about my husband.”
The two went upstairs to the cozy bedroom, and sat down.
“We must find Gaius, I know he’s the werewolf Sam!  Lets go out and find him.  We must stop his killing.”
“We can’t kill him Liliana, he is going to have a baby.  Lets just try to stop him without hurting him.”
“Yeah, will see about that.  Come on, lets go.”
The two snuck out of the window, and left in search of the troubled man.
They ran across the Guard Captain and his men.  They overheard the Captain announce that there had been another killing.  It was a child.  “We must stop this WOLFMAN NOW!”
The city messenger came running from the nearest alley and approached the Captain.  “The Wolfman is in the Market Square, we must attack him there.”
“Men, lets go!”
The crew of men sprinted towards the Market Square.  They all could here more screaming, but this loud roars filled the night sky.  The crew had arrived at a horrific scene, an 8 foot tall beast.  With the characteristics of both man and wolf.  The howls grew louder and louder, the ground trembling beneath them.
“You two stay back, my men will take down this treacherous beast!  Charge!”
All the men, including the Guard Captain, charged the enormous beast.  Swords out, they swung and thrusted their silver swords at the beast with no luck.  The silver metal came up empty with each new swing.  The beast had became agitated and started to attack.
With one swipe of its long sharpened claws, the Wolfman killed two of the Captain’s men.  With fresh warm blood on his face, the Captain began his own assault.  “DIE, YOU BEAST!”

His sword pierced the scruffy shoulder of the tall Wolfman, but it wasn’t enough.  The beast snatched the sword from the Captainn and thrusted it at his leg.  “Ahhh, you wretched beast.  Wound me with my own weapon, I swear I’ll kill you myself.
“There was a slight moment of silence, until the Wolfman spoke.  “I DON’T THINK SO,” the beast said while laughing menacingly.  He grabbed the injured Guard Captain, and lifted him off the ground.  Feet dangling off the ground, the Wolfman forced his razor sharp claws through the chest of the Captain, then pulled it back out.  “OH, MY FAVORITE ORGAN OF THE HUMAN BODY.  THE HEART!”
The savage consumed the very essence of human life with a sinister smile across its mouth.
“Sam, what are we waiting for.  Lets kill this thing!  Lets hurry, its starting to run.”
The creature got on all fours, and started to scurry back across the town.
The two followed it back at the house they met him.  “Hurry, we’re losing him.  He’s going back to the house, we can’t let him hurt his wife and child.”
They arrived at the home, still catching their breath, they unsheathed their swords.  When they opened the door, the beast charged the door, knocking them both back on the ground.
The Wolfman had his wife in one hand, and picked Liliana’s sword up with the other.  “YOU TWO ARE TOO LATE!  I GUESS YOUR FRIEND WAS RIGHT ABOUT ME ALL ALONG.  THSI IS WHAT HAS TO BE DONE, I HAVE TO CONSUME MY CHILD.  IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEIGHTEN MY POWER!”
“Sam, he has one of my swords.  You need to get it back for me, I need both weapons to be effective in combat.”
The boy was quiet, he just took his sword and put it in both hands.  His eyes were glowing white again, he jumped high, and landed on the still injured shoulders of the Wolfman.  He raised his sword high and plunged his sword down in the skull of the creature.  “DIE YOU CRETAN, the boy shouted in a strange voice.
The Wolfman dropped the woman and Liliana’s sword, and fell hard to the ground.
“Sam, you did it again.  Your eyes light up, and you can do almost anything.”
“I’m sorry, I don’t know why I keep doing that.  The power just feels good when it happens, so I just embrace it.  I don’t want to fight it.”
“Well, it looks like you saved the day.  We will leave in the morning.   We still have to get to Greece.”
The woman showed thanks by inviting them in for the night.
As the morning came, the body of the beast had already been moved to a public place to make the city feel safe.  Liliana and the boy didn’t attend the public viewing event, they had a schedule to get attend too, and a war to stop....
